On Saturday morning we woke up early, grabbed a Starbucks and hopped onto a train to the capital. After arriving at Kings Cross, we headed over to our Hotel, the Double Tree Tower of London, which I would definitely recommend. The staff were lovely and welcoming, offering drinks as we stood in the queue for check in. Even though we were early, they gave us the keys to our room with a warm chocolate cookie (is there anything better?!) so we could dump our bags.
Our first stop was Borough Market, weaving through the hustle and bustle and snooping at all of its delicious food stalls. I took this picture of the umbrella's in the courtyard, such a beautiful place to sit and take in your surroundings.
We then headed over to Coven Garden to wander around the shops and check out the street performers. This guy was crazy!
A, with a full belly from supper!
It was then time for the much anticipated show. A had surprised
me two weeks prior to our trip with two tickets to see Wicked in the West End.
I was beyond excited as I had been desperate to go and see the show since high
school… and BOY was it worth the wait.
The whole experience from start to
finish was just incredible, the performers had spine tingling voices and the
set was really well designed. If you get the chance to see this show I would
really recommend it, tickets can be found here
Sunday was spent wandering around West Minster, St James' Park and a quick trip to the London Aquarium.
We headed over to the Shake Shack in Covent Garden for an incredible burger, the best I've tasted! Full of cheese and bacon goodness with crinkly chips and a iced tea mixed with lemonade. Heaven.
It was then nearly time for our train, exhausted after a weekend exploring on foot, we headed over to the station where A treated us to cakes from Patisserie Valerie for the journey home. YUM.
All in all, a wonderful weekend filled with delicious food and great company.
